Das zentral gelegene Grünareal Ueno Park in Tokyo beherbergt eine Vielzahl an kulturellen Institutionen. Zudem finden sich im nahen Umkreis wichtige Bildungseinrichtungen wie etwa die University of fine Arts and Music und mehr als 160 weitere kleine Galerien, Museen und Kunstateliers. Grundgedanke ist eine Einrichtung zu schaffen, die den aktuellen Kulturaustausch erleichtert und fördert und die sich selbst als eine Plattform der Kommunikation und ein Medium der Information versteht. Ein aus vergleichbaren Projekten ermitteltes Raumprogramm definiert vor allem nutzungsvariable Einrichtungen und Einrichtungen für soziale Bedürfnisse und Kommunikation. Ziel ist, trotz unveränderter Wirkung als Grünzone und Erholungsgebiet, neuen öffentlichen Raum zu implantieren und das kulturelle Angebot zu optimieren.

The centrally located green area Ueno Park in Tokyo is housing a multiplicity of cultural institutions. Furthermore there are important educational institutions, for example the University of fine arts and music and more than 160 galleries, museums and art studios close-by. The basic idea is to create an institution which facilitates and fosters the cultural exchange and constitutes itself as a platform of communication and a medium of information. A space allocation plan calculated of comparable projects defines primarily multifunctional use and use for social requirements and communication. The intention is, in spite of unchanged effect as green area and recreation area, to implant new public space and optimize the cultural offers and activities.
